When I went from 225/50/16's to 235/45/17's, I noticed heavy steering and a tendancy to tram line when on rough roads at high speed. I have replaced every little bit of my suspension/steering system and my steering box is tight. So I don't believe the suspension/steering is at fault. I did a little tire swap test a few weeks ago and found that when I switched back to 225's up front, it cured my problems. I'll be replacing my tires soon and plan on going with 225/45/17's in front and 235/45/17's in the rear (or possibly 225's all the way around). I just haven't figured out which tires to go with yet... too many choices!

Good luck,
Ethan

Just checking to see how bad the bump steer is with some of you. My car is stock I believe, except for the Biltien HDs in the front.

Toe is set to +/- .06-.08 degrees.
Tire pressure is 36lbs front 38 rear.

Also, am I being overly consious of the "feel" and the way the M5 drives or does eveyone's car find every dam crack in the road ? Bumpy roads at anything over 80mph is a wild ride. I'm also steering from the rear but that's another story.

Philo.
