Stage one:
I went with the Dinan stage 3-4 set up. The kit included the SLS elimination kit, springs, and fixed negative camber plates. While I was in there I replaced the strut tops.
I then ordered Bilstein sports from Mesa performance parts to top it off
Stage two:
Front and rear strut braces. The strut braces made a HUGE difference! If there is one thing that has improved my cars handling the most, it's the braces. I went with the Racing Dynamics front strut brace and then I made a killer rear brace. The only rear brace that is available is the OEM brace, which is flimsy as hell.
Stage three:
Replaced sway bar bushings, dog bones, sub frame bushings, and sway bar links.
My sub frame bushings were TOAST! This was another HUGE improvement.
Stage four:
E34 M5 TS wheels with 235/45/ZR17 tires. Unfortunately the wheels came with new Kuhmo Ecsta Supra tires. Now I feel obligated to wear them out. When I do get new tires, I’ll go with 225/45/ZR17s in front and 235/45ZR17s in the rear.
After tweaking the front toe a little to compensate for the additional negative camber, the car feels great, but tends to slide around a little with these POS tires. I still haven't made up my mind what brand tires to go with.
The struts and shocks are now over a year old and starting to feel a little soft. I think I'll try Koni's next. If Koni's don't give me what I'm looking for, then I'm gonna go all out and go the Ground Control coil over rout.
You have a million options out there. Try to go with what you think will suit your driving style best. Also, consider how much you drive your car. My car is my secondary driver. I tend to drive my old Toyota 4X4 truck more than the Bimmer, so when I do drive the Bimmer, it’s usually for spirited fun.
As far as actually doing the work, it's fairly straight foreword and easy, but you'll need a spring compressor. Also, definitely get an alignment done after you change out your suspension parts.
Good luck,
Ethan
