I am doing this set-up to actually compare both turbo and sc. drivability....
the SC kit should yeild about 8-9psi(more upon rquest)you will be able to buy it for about the same price as race marque's setup (or less)....my prototype should be done by the 1st week in may.......
I am also making a few extra mounting brackets
for those that may want a shot at it...
it will come in 2 versions intercooled and non-intercooled. Larger injectors that will support up to 10 psi, Boost control with silenoid, blow off valve set at 9psi for saftey .
there should be no timing issues running a modest boost level between 8-9 psi..higher might require ecu mods...
I have access to a machine shop to do the mandrel tubing and mounting brackets......my car is the gunea pig.....what we are attempting to do is
1. get the fuel delivery calculations down pat.
2. The kit system will utilize the stock motronic ecu
The work and tuning on MY M5 will be performed by skilled professional individuals....and I am 100% confident that they have the best intrest of this project at heart. But the system IF I offer it will be a simple bolt on kit......(a moderate kit).....for the mechanically inclined
at 8psi we are looking for a nice 400hp gain.
we are not trying to compete with the Racemarques
the Dinans, and other companies out there, The cars i have modified are my personal cars and are tuned to my driving personality, and specs.
My personal tuned cars to date are :
89 535i Twin turbo
92 Alpina B10-Biturbo #384
91 850i twin supercharger system under development
98 740iL ESS supercharged
My car will also be fitted with a new racing computer..to handle the "detonation issues" up and above 9 psi, and it will also eliminate the
MAF and replace it with a MAP. and I will also be going to coil pacs..I am also designing a thicker head gasket to help lower the compression a little
in an inexpensive but safe way for the M5 motor.
when it is all said and done..."MY CAR" not the kit...will be capable of running about 12-14psi MAX, and 8psi MIN...
