the outside lights 7" in this case ( btw I have these lights too) should have dual element bulbs. The low beams do not stay on but they switch to the second element with the high beams. When you activate high beams you will have 4 lights on, none of them will be low beam. This is how the factory wiring is set up. You will need to modify the wire plug on the plastic weather cover to get the thing working. If you drive summer only - no rain- like me , you can remove the weather cover and then the factory wire will plug directly onto the bulb with no mods. There is also no need to add extra wiring for better power, unless you add much bigger wattage bulbs. Trust the BMW engineers they have sufficient voltage already there. My last advice is please please PLEASE get the new lights aimed by a pro if you dont know what you are doing. These are not American beams, they have a very sharp "cut off" pattern. You must align them based on the high beams. the high beams must never be higher than horizontal, the low beam cannot be adjusted. YOu will find that the low beams seem fairly low at first. Leave them that way and save all of our eyes. I just spent 3 years in Europe, that is just the way their lights are. I'm installing the European headlights and it appears the low beam (7") is meant for low beam ONLY (no high beam connection on the stock plug, only low and city light) and the high beam has a cut off or shield unlike a regular H1. Now from memory of the movie Ronin, the low beams stay on all the time and when you activate the high beam, only it lights up. Is this right? And if so how do I wire it up? I was going to put relays in for better voltage and place a diode between the low and high circuit to keep the low beam relay energized when using the high beam due to it's cut off. That will work but how was it stock euro style? And the warning LED in the car will get triggered so how so I fix that too?
