The cars shown are UK spec. cars. There isn't one 'Euro' spec for exterior lighting, Italy has it's own rules, Scandinavian countries have their sidelights on (=city lights?) whenever the ignition is on & until about ten years ago, French cars had yellow headlamps.

Note: 'sidelights' are NOT the same as US sidemarkers, European cars don't have side markers as such.

However, most 'Euro' lights are very similar to UK ones and are (switch positions):

1. off.

2. Front sidelights/citylights on, rear licence/number plate lights on, rear sidelights/tail lights on. Instrument panel lights on.

3. As 2. above, plus outer 7" dipped beam on. (If the front sidelight is built into a headlamp, it may extinguish. If seperate, it'll stay lit).

4. (controlled by dip-switch). As 3. above, plus outer 7" Main beam on and inner main beam on. Switching is usually aranged so that the outer dipped beam goes out.
