It was less than $1000 for all the parts to do all four corners. I needed to do the fronts too. If I was just doing the back, the decision would be more difficult, as I don't know how good a match my rear suspension would be with the stock fronts. Just the SLS parts might be cheaper than the cost for 4 corners, and less work to just do the rear.
I've driven 180,000 miles in e28's in various suspension configurations. This is the best combination I've had. Stiff without being harsh, and handles very well.
The parts can be sourced from Independent BMW, 858-488-1555 or from Eurasian parts select, 800-824-8814, the people there are also familiar with the conversion and what you will need. You will save big money vs buying the kit from BMP or Bavarian Autosport. Maximillian Importing also seems familiar with the conversion and can source all the parts. They use M Tech springs in the rear, which my adviser said were too stiff.
This is what I have on my car:
Front Springs: BMW 31-33-2-226-287 MTech.
Rear Springs: Stock 535is, Billstein sport on 3rd from bottom snap ring. It was less than $1000 for all parts, front and rear, including shocks.
