You may have a short shift installed. If it's too radical it will feel like that. Otherwise change your transmission fluid to Redline MTL.

Hi all,

I'm the proud new owner of an '88 M5 with only 69k. The car appears to be in great shape and runs like a locomotive (as you all know).

One question for you knowledgable folks. The shifter (even after the car is well warmed up) is stiff. It's a real deliberate motion needed to go from 1st to 2nd compared to an E30 and E39 - which I know are very different animals.

Could this be a fluid level issue, or is it just the nature of the beast? What's your experience?

Thanks,
David
