You could just hack out the flex joint and replace it with a universal flex joint.

Usually, once something in an exhaust system cracks, it needs to be replaced. That joint would probably crack again and the header is kind of a pain to take out, so do it once. Your options are: Replace the header or replace the joint. Also, a used header might just crack again... it's your call.

Sometimes when a header is new it will crack from stress if not properly welded or mounted. What they do then is to heat up the header and weld the crack. This can last forever, but on the particular joint in question... I don't think so.

i am looking for the rear half of the exhaust manifold for a 1988 m5 (e28). my flexjoint is leaking near the firewall. can this be welded for a fix or will that break due to the movement of the joint?
