I'm not an engine rebuilder kind of guy but I recall in high school everyone building VW hot rod engines. The trick was to use a 69mm crank vs. 62mm (I think)and then go with 65mm bore that brought the 1600cc engine to 1835cc. Add on dual Webber 44 or 46 down draft carbs and now things would get wild.

I can recall these guys lighting up the streets with this setup, one of the quickest reving engines I've seen.

I love the high rev capabilities of my M5, every chance I get I test my 170k mile timming chain to 6k rpms. I guess I really want to do a rebuild soon.

There is a tuner in Los Angeles that does the 3.8 stroker motor for our car as well as adding a super charger if you have enough coin. I couldn't even imagine having that beast of an engine in my car.

Philo.
