I just want to thank everyone on this board for saving me and my Dad $2000. When my car started having the Tach problems, I came in here for answers. Bam! A few of you in here told me about the reverse light wires that come up through the shifter. THAT was correct diagnosis. A little electric tape and plastic...and its el fixed.

My dad's M6 has had the same tach problem for nearly 5 years. Everytime we take it to the dealer or shop, they say "You need a new computer =$1000+." Today my dad calls me and says he looked at that reverse light wire...and guess what? THAT was the culprit. A little tape and plastic...BAM! Its el fixamundo. Thanks again.
