The oil sensor is working. It really wasn't that low. I am thinking/hoping it was a fluke or caused by some of my recent OBC repair attempts.
Thanks for calming me down though. I love my M5, but am always afraid of repairs.

My oil light on the dash flickered for about .5 second the other night. Fortunately, I was next to my driveway. Oil was low. How worried should I be?

You shouldn't worry unless it flickers at high RPMs.

How many miles on it? What kind and weight of oil do you use?

If you're REALLY worried about the condition of the engine, install and oil pressure gauge. It will tell you if the oil pressure is low at any time. The light comes on when the pressure drops below 7psi. If you track the car at all, you should install an oil pressure gauge for monitoring purposes.

Doesn't the oil level sender work?
