Good synthetic oil is BETTER than dino oil in all categories. It flows better when cold, adheres to metal better, has a better additives package, and is more stable at extreme high and low temperatures.

FWIW--I use Mobil 1 10W30 in my M5 and my S14 M3. Thicker oil does not necessarily lubricate better than thinner oil. If I spin a bearing, then I'll switch to 15W50.

Everyone should read the Motor Oil Bible. Search for it on google.com or other search engine. It costs about $5, I think, but it's well worth it to dispell many myths and mis-conceptions about oil.
