It's used to seal the engine during shipping from Germany, but yellows badly with age. There is a product that will remove it, but I have no idea what it is.

What's up with the plug wires? At very least you should zip tie them in a neat bundle to prevent RF interference getting into your radio, but I do see ground wires, so maybe you have no problem.

Can anyone comment about the seeming staining of the valve cover here. Is it normal residual buildup from acceptable emissions? Is it a signal of a leak somewhere? Were any given this coleration from the factory? Were others which appear bright just washed regularly? In all my searching for one to buy. Since i missed on a member's a few months ago, this is the one most appealing by virtue of the mileage, price and location . A southern car gives me a lot of comfort being from the northeast. One more question, I can't say i have any disposable income and i would be mortgeging my no mortgage condo to buy ,is there any manifest rule with this car where certain parts regularly fail and if so what should i be prepared to replace in the near future. Thanks ,an addict.
