Well, that happens. Redline is synthetic and therefore penetrates better and most probably is the reason for your new leak. It seems that the most common trans leak happens at the shift selector seal above the rear main seal. You can replace this seal by removing the heat shield and driveshaft. Once you have access, remove the four bolts holding the rear trans mount as to lower the trans a little (place a jack under the trans to lower slowly) and then remove the shifter mechanism. Once all that is out of your way you can use a pick tool to remove the seal. Some people make a tool out of a screw driver. Once the seal is removed you can put the new seal in with the appropriate size deep socket as a seal driving punch (umm... thingy).

While you're at it you might want to replace your trans rear seal. You'll need a thin walled 30mm deep socket. The rest of the job is self explanatory.

Last week I had the old tranny fluid replaced with Redline and was pleasantly surprised by the new ease with which the shifter worked. (no short shift kit installed). Now, after having a tranny mount and flex disc replaced - I smell burning tranny fluid and have a some garage floor staining. It had a weekend of fairly hard use autocrossing, but I smelled it prior to that. Any ideas?

Thanks,
David
