the top switch(3-prong) is the aux fan temp switch. it turns the fan on either in hi speed or low speed, depending on the temp of the coolant. the second switch(2-prong) is a cool switch that i have only seen on the m5 or m6. it is the compressor temp switch. if the car gets to hot, i will cut the power to the compressor.
