I ended up doing the same thing as I was having intermittent a/c. Dealer couldn't find or locate the temp switch on their microfiche. I have since seen an ETM and think they were only used on the M5 and 528e. My existing switch had no markings as to what temp it opened at. I don't need to drive the car hard on very hot days here in the northwest.

Standing on the front of the car ,There are 2 switches on the left side of the radiator .Upper switch has 3 wire prung and the lower switch has 2 wire prung.and the previous owner had disconnected the lower switch and connect the 2 wires together.The temp. is not overheating.I need help to identify this 2 switches and what thier purpose.
