Joe, the running gear on the E24 M6 is identical to the E28 M5, with only very minor differences. The cars share almost all of the components (temp. sw./sensor is a little different physically).
The BCG Technical library ia maintained by Norm Grills as is the Forums. See URl, below.
The engineering that went into the SLS does not allow one shock to hydraulically link a reaction to the other in cornering. The damping is all done by the accumulators, NOT the shocks. It doesn't matter which accumulator is bad: It's ALWAYS a good idea to change both if one goes out. The other one will fail real soon, too. I have changed both and both hoses. What a difference! You will know by the "hunting" of the pump, usually, although Madeline's didn't do this until the hose started leaking. Another way is to drain them. The one which has the most fluid come out is bad. The trouble is, that Pentosin 7.1 is damned expensive mineral oil!!

There is no ETM available on the Internet. they are available through the dealers. Don't let them tell you differently! They will run you about $45, @ most. I use my M6 one for the M5. For most things it is comparable. The best source I have found for parts is www.gapa.com, price-wise. I could have paid 1/2 what I did for the parts if i had known about them before I did the SLS work!!

I think that if you give up your SLS, you are turning an M5 into a 535i, suspension-wise!! What a waste of fine engineering, only because you don't understand it.
