Because of the cam box being mounted over the head and after the head is installed on the block, there is no requirement to re-torque the head bolts (you would have to remove the cams and box to do so.)

I wonder if this contributes to the oil seepage problem.

Also, do you think that much oil is actually coming out of the gasket or could some of the oil consumption be attributed to valves and or rings?
