Re: soft clutch pedal (archive)

Hello fellow M5 zealots! Just replaced the clutch in my M5. This clutch lasted 175,000 miles!!!! (car has 234,000) I replaced EVERYTHING (master,slave,bearings,fork etc.) to new parts except the flywheel which is still in great condition after resurfacing. My delima is the pedal feels much softer than I remember an M5 pedal should feel! My 88 325ic's pedal is stiffer! The old fork was bent and the clutch was binding on shaft before the replacement. I initially suspected that my parts guy gave me a 535 clutch. But a quick check verifies that I have all M5 parts. The only thing I can think is I need to bleed the clutch more. Or perhaps the newer parts are purposely more "user friendly." Maybe the centering(?) spring for the clutch pedal needs adjustment? It engages/releases with no problems right now. But it still has the "on the floor" feel during engagement. any suggestions, before I crawl underneath her again with the bleeding equip?

Hi there. I have my M5 for the last two year, when I bought it, the clucth fells soft, softer than my 635. I use the car for autocross, and the clutch holds up, no slipping. I thought the guy before me might changed the clutch from a 535 also. I'll find out when the clutch due for replacement.
