Hi Geoff-

Out of curiosity, why would you want to bother doing this? Keep in mind, unless your car is moving at a decent rate of speed all the time, you might be surprised how quickly your temperature guage would flare up without something dragging fresh air across your radiator. My thought it that it's needed more than you might think. Just not sure what the benefit might be of removing it. I do know that having an electric fan running most of the time, or having a mechanical fan running all the time shouldn't make much difference either way. From a longevity/reliability standpoint, I'd put my money on the mechanical fan any day.

Just my two cents.

Regards,
Tim G.

I have a 1987 M535i here in "sunny" england. I would like to remove the engine driven fan as its not really needed unless in traffic and replace it with an automatically operated electric fan.
Has anybody else done this?? if so then how??
Anybody got any suggestions either for or against this idea?
Thanks, Geoff.
