The reason i want to do this is because engine driven fans rob power. This can be several percent of the total output at high RPM. At anything over about 20 mph the car should be more than able to stay cool without the assistance of any fan. This is why more modern cars no longer have the belt driven fan. It also uses less fuel if the engine doesnt have to spin the fan all day and this is my chief reason for having a fiddle about.
Kenlowe make excellent aftermarket fans with electronic control for fitment to (say) the triumph stag which is well known to get hot at the drop of a hat. These fans come at a price usually so i was really looking to other owners for their experiences and to see if there were any better ideas out there.
