This from a guy driving a 318. Ever been to a track school to test the limits of these cars? You will find them quite amazing.
The problem I have with people doing high speeds is those @$# SUVs (and not the X5)...3 tons of mass, poor transient stability, a good chance of blowing a tire, coupled with 350 HP is some cases.
Now thats a reason to cry social irresponsibility.
