I'm a BMW fan and I just found a 74 Bavaria with 158k miles that I could get for about $800. I see NO rust and it runs well. The A/C works! The exterior is pretty good but the interior is shot. The dash is cracked and the seats are torn.

I'm so tempted to buy and restore it but I wonder if it's worth it. What are they worth? How much demand is there for them? How easy is it to get parts (especially interior)? I'm just afraid of putting $6000 into a car that might be worth $1500 when done.

I've owned Bavaria's since '73, love them but you're right, they aren't worth much these days,at least book value, but what you get in performance and handling and ride for almost nothing makes the Bavaria still a great car. If you're looking at future resale value however, do'nt bother...
