I am passing this along from the 2002 board.

Alert for California members: The original meeting concerning legislation on
>smog checks for 1966-73 model vehicles has been rescheduled.
>
>Approximately 70 citizens showed up for the original meeting. Only four of
>the members showed up, which meant no action could be taken, as they didn't
>have a quorum.
>
>They have rescheduled the meeting for February 6. Please try to come to the
>rescheduled meeting.
>
>Some background information:
>The Return of Smog Checks for 1966-73 model vehicles has been proposed by
>the California Inspection & Maintenance Review Committee (IMRC).
>
>The California legislature had exempted '73 and older vehicles from the
>program. Now the IMRC wants to reinstate the smog checks.
>
>It's extremely important for all interested parties (tell your friends who
>may own collector or special intrest cars, hot rods, muscle cars, etc.) to
>make an effort to attend the meeting in Sacramento on February 6.
>Time: 10:A.M.
>Place: Dept. of Consumer Affairs
>1st floor conference room
>400 R Street
>Sacramento
>Date: February 6, 2001
