I took my '75 3.0Si in for an oil change this morning and returned to the shop later in the day. The guy returned my oil filter; I always take one because they never have one in stock. I asked whether they changed the oil. He said, "Oh yes. But, we have a problem. Can you come with me?" You see, this is a very nice car. In and out, this blue car is very nice for its age, and painted in its original blue.

With it hoisted in the air, I saw the car with its drooping front suspension and thought "Well, it looks fine. They must of had a problem with the filter canister, . . . ?"

Then when I walked around the front left corner I noticed that the fender was caved in and the suspension behind the wheel/tire was chewed up as if it landed on the ground without a tire. . . the tire was gouged along the sidewall, too.

Sure enough, the guy admitted that one of his "former" mechanics had attempted to drive the car to the parking lot without tightening the lugs. . . . I have no idea why they took off my wheel. So, the wheel had squirted out after mangling the fender and bounced into a window of another mechanic's car. . .

In shock I looked at the guy and said, "Well, that's what insurance is for." I didn't know what else to say.

So, actually, I needed a touchup to the paint in spots. This week I planned to get new Dunlop D60A2 tires to replace my 215R60-14s, which are on mid-80's honeycomb wheels.. One wheel now needs to be replaced, and i may get a set of tires out of the deal, too.

I apologize for the long story. But, you understand, this was therapy for me.

In the spirit of "Bartles & James": "Thank you for your support."

If you have the BBS 14" mesh wheels, I believe I have an exact replacement in perfect condition. If you need one, drop me a line and I will get the exact info for you. Bill
