I have a co worker that brought a '72 barvaria back to life after sitting a long time and is using it as a daily driver. He's having some problems with an engine miss. He's burning up alot of points and is considering trying an electronic ignition conversion. He also has a 530 parts car and is wondering if he can switch distributors??? I think it has the original carbs (zeniths?), could be in bad shape. He's also looking for trim on the passsenger side rocker panel. We're in the Seattle area. Thanks Marty

Hi Marty,

if the 530 is an injection (as I think)and is not motronic, he has to put alimentation (+ and ground) to the distributor (on the side, there is a little special connector). It would be better to find a map of the electric connections.

If he would transform with an injection system, he has to take the tank too (from a 3.0Si), put a pomp under the car and install all the cables of injection system. I've done it one time, but it's long ...

Else, I have a set of two carburettors that I have restored 10 years ago and with them I drove my car approx. 10'000km. They run perfectly and I can sell him for a good rpice the two carbs. If he need more help or parts, tell me.

Bye
Michel

A new condensor, at our suggestion, solved this guys problem. His new points are holding up fine now. Thanks Marty
