I haven't done it, but I'm sure an early 6-series or E12 528i 5-speed would virtually bolt in. You may have to use the E12 driveshaft or have your existing driveshaft modified to be the correct length. You may also have to modify the shifter platform and linkage, but you may not. I'm not sure. You will also have to get the interior console stuff from a stick E3. This conversion has been done many times, so there has to be a lot of info out there.
