Hello,
After changing the head on my 76 3.0Si, the exhaust manifolds seem to be getting very hot. In fact the wiper fluid canister (plastic) is getting so hot it can hardly be touched. Has anybody experienced this before?

Detailed background: I just bought this vehicle and there was antifreeze getting in the oil. I don’t know how the car was running before this and it was running when I bought it but I didn’t run it long for obvious reasons. When I took the head off, the gasket appeared to be OK so following advice I read about, I replaced the head. I went to a salvage yard and bought a used one. The engine seems to running OK now but also seems to be lacking power, but since this is my first experience with a automatic transmission, I can’t tell, it may be normal.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Frank…..
