I'm looking into getting a 1972 Bavaria and I want to know what the biggest engine and transmission would be that I could swap into it without doing too many modifications to the frame of the car. Right now its got a 4-speed in it and I'm not sure which engine it has in it.

why not have the engine rebuilt, stroked and
any other personal mods. I had a 73 bav back in early 80s and when my head crack, I got a new head w/high performance pistons, put 2 webbers on it and a performance exhaust. truly a poor mans m5!
