OK.
I failed the CA Smog test with an '85 635Csi engine. New Cat, valve adjustment, O2 sensor, plugs, etc. Car runs lean (rough) at idle when the O2 sensor is hooked up, smooth when disconnected.
Here are the numbers, Max. allowed in parens.:
CO2 O2 HC(ppm) CO(%) NO(ppm)
15mph 13.8 2.4 (128) 39 (.80).01 (1127) 552
25mph 14.7 0.9 (103) 14 (.60).02 (987) 1510

Obiously, the NOx level failed at 25mph.

Does anyone have any ideas, short of spending $70 per hour at my mechanics shop to have this diagnosed? I'm open to all ideas.
