well it's certainly faster but nothing amazing. I am told that the double 38/38's are just as good for performance. Either setup will give you crap milage, but they weren't meant for street use anyhow. I'm going to swap for a sportier cam and then see how it is after.

Well, the 38/38 is a nice carburettor, ( would be a little better performance to have two 38/38's versus two 32/36's on John's car ) my '74 2002 has a new 38/38 on it, along with the 292 cam and 9.5:1 compression, previously a 32/36 was on the car. I've thought about going to weber sidedrafts, had sidedraft DCOE 40's on my '68 2000ti but I am staying with a single carburettor setup for now on my 2002. I'm getting around 25mpg with the 38/38 for an average, idle jets were bumped up from stock 45's to 55's, mains will be going from stock 142's to 150's next spring. Al Taylor has a Bavaria that he races.
