it's more like 20-25 mpg, high 20's for highway driving, but for the engine modifications it is all right, the 32/36 on my '76 2002 a few years ago got me mileage in the 25mpg range. These 4 cylinder 2002 engines aren't Toyota Corolla's or Honda Accords, so the mileage isn't going to be in the 30-35 mpg area, more fuel efficient engines, those cars; my rusty '89 Corolla gets about 32mpg city and up towards 40 highway, but I took the 2002 out yesterday out for a drive and it is just downright a fun car to drive, hate to go those 4 months not driving it ( winter storage, here in western N.Y. ) but I just won't take another 2002 through our salty road winters. If anyone out there is interested, there is a 1974 Bavaria for sale here, it is in the showroom of a shop called "The Wire Wheel ",an auto repair shop, Amazon green/tan interior, automatic, solid floors, rockers, nice interior, not sure if it has ever been repainted but there some spots of rust ( front of the hood, a few at the door bottoms ); the car is on consignment, it's been in that shop for about 5 months now, the lady selling it took a job in New York and is asking $2k. If you know of anyone looking Andrey their phone number is 716-442-3575, it appears to be original as far as carburettors etc...
