I can help with the water hose. That is the return line for the water that warms up the chokes. It is one of 3 hoses total to accomplish the task.

The correct routing starts from a similar tap facing backwards on the back of the front manifold which goes up to the choke warmer (short piece of hose).

The second piece goes from the outlet of that same front choke warmer, underneath the rear manifold, and to the rear choke warmer. This is the longest piece of hose.

The third one is the one you have, which goes from the rear carb. choke warmer to the block.

Note if the chokes have been converted to electric warmers, you may cap the front manifold and block taps, or just run a hose between the two. I'm guessing that is what you have because 18 inches is too long for the rear line.

Vacuum lines are tougher because they vary between years, markets and emissions setups. On my '73 U.S. market Bavaria, The vacuum advance and retard lines come from taps at the base of the carbs on the right side just behind the mixture screws. Everything else is emissions related and can be capped off if your government allows. I don't even have my vacuum retard hooked up.

I'm a fan of the Zeniths. They work very well when properly rebuilt, adjusted and with all the parasitic emissions crap off of them.

Morning

i'm having a nightmare with a hideous bundle of little rubber hoses that came in the cardboard box, with all the other necessary but unfathomable ancillary junk, that came with the old 2.8 i scored to replace the nasty four-pot in an E12. Where all those rubber hoses go - i mean the thin ones that look like they must plug in all around the base of the carbs... that run off the distributer etc, that have T junctions etc, i have no idea. Can anyone help?

Further... there's a water line of about 8mm internal running off the rear left of the block just below the head. The line's about 18in long, but i don't know where it's meant to plug in.

Any help or advice on these problems would be hugely appreciated.
