I don't think anything could be as difficult as getting those blasted calipers off, so I'm going to give the rebuild a shot. A few questions:

1. Where can you purchase the rebuild kits?
Last time I did one I got it from the local imported parts store, in stock, I think they were the same as the E-12's

2. If I have already pulled apart the 2 sections, does it really mean I'm cooked?

3. A mechanic friend told be the rubber boots that contact the brake pads are only dust shields-If thats the case, the where are the calipers leaking from?
Yes, the rubber boot that you can see is just a dust shield, but the seal that is leaking is underneath there, lower on the piston. The pistons can be difficult to get out, compressed air works well, but DO NOT get your fingers in there when you do it.
