Having owned and enjoyed a bavaria a few years back (and many speeding tickets later!) - The only thing I can figure - is some weird "chicken / egg" thing going on.

A. Folks hear about how they rust (like the sexy CS coupes)

B. Folks know how much parts cost (like the sexy CS Coupes)

C. Folks hear a restored one is only worth $2100.00 (exaggerated - but you get the point)

Here's the "which came first issue":

They won't pay more than $x amount for a nice restored one - because they fear rust, parts costs, etc.

Folks don't want to really fix them properly and at great expense - because they know a restored beauty - will still never sell for very much.

It truly is a shame, too - because they have much of the refinement of a coupe, and the killer stealth lines of a big engined Benz - but with that great BMW nose.

Still one of my favorite BMWs ever.
