I was having problems getting the pistons out (corroded solid) from my '72 Si brakes and gave them to a specialist to remove them for me. Went back a couple of weeks later. 'Not a problem', he says, 'just had to split them and then it was straight forward'... I never thought I would have to identify the things not to do. You live and (hopefully) you learn!

I don't think anything could be as difficult as getting those blasted calipers off, so I'm going to give the rebuild a shot. A few questions:

1. Where can you purchase the rebuild kits?

2. If I have already pulled apart the 2 sections, does it really mean I'm cooked?

3. A mechanic friend told be the rubber boots that contact the brake pads are only dust shields-If thats the case, the where are the calipers leaking from?

Thanks in advance.
