I have a question for you all. I am in need of a four door BMW, and originally was thinking of a E12 or E23 and dismissed the Bav initially as "too expensive." Upon later investigation on the board I have decided my earlier assumption was wrong and I now want to buy a Bav. I have an extra dogleg CR transmission from a 79 635CSi and I was wondering if I could put that into the Bav. I live in Houston, Texas, and I have never seen a Bavaria in the city so how can I find one to buy? Do you all have any suggestions? I really could use a four door sedan as my other two cars are a 320i and a 635CSi. When family visits I have to ride in their horrible SUV's and I hate riding in cars that everyone else on the road drives (cookie cutter). The dogleg 265 should fit. You'll need the drive shaft and cross member too. You will have to do some simple mods (like weld a mount or drill a hole for a bolt in the driveshaft tunnel) to mount the rear shifter tower of the 265.
As for finding a car.... should be easy. Use the E3 mail list first. I also think there are several BMW specialists in TX that can locate a car for you. Look in the Roundel Mag of the CCA, Sayther Automotive can help.
Last resort look on the web for a car... travel and drive it home.
E3's are easy to find.... but finding a good non rusty example might take you awhile.
