.008" when dead cold or .006" when hot/warm. usually makes them quiet without burning a valve :) Thats what I set mine to and have never had any problems. Of course you should follow the workshop manual specs.


Do the valves on an E-3 need adjustment like on the air-cooled 1600"s? Any sites with the proceedure? Thanks
Do you need to renew the valve-cover gasket every time you adjust?. I usually get 8-10 adjustments out of my type 1 valve cover gaskets.
