My 84 325e does the same thing... even after replacing the front rotors, calipers and pads... the rears had new pads and were in top shape... after a couple of miles POP goes the light.
now
-GET THIS- STOOPID SOLUTION:
to rid of the light, all I do is keep the TEMP control knob at the coolest setting... then FLIP QUICKLY to the 9 o'clock position and back... and the light GOES OUT! GREMLIMS!!!
But, alas... it slowly comes back on again! so repeat! GRRRRRRRR... I will look for that $15.00 switch abouve the pedal.

: : Anyone had this problem? Brake lights are fine, but depressing the pedal doesn't cancel the Active Check Light. Any help appreciated.
: My 1987 325 has a similar but different problem. The brake lining check light keeps coming on but my mechanics have confirmed the brakes are in good shape. Ideas?
