Hey everyone, I just drove a 1987 325is with an automatic transmission, and while accelerating, the car felt very sluggish. It felt like the car was in 2nd gear while accelerating. I couldnt even hit the redline. I was at a stand-still and tried to put the transmission lever into "1" at the bottom of the shifter, but it wouldnt go. It felt like there was a lock-out that was preventing me from engaging 1st gear. It was very weird. Is every automatic like this or is there something wrong with the transmission i drove with. When at high way speeds, the car eagerly downshifted for passing and the power felt great, but the acceleration bothered me. Also, the car just had major tune up about a month ago so i know there isnt anything wrong with it(i hope :=) ). So how about it automatic owners? Is this normal or is there something wrong? I guess im use to driving a manual transmission. BTW, the car has 110k miles.
