I have very same problem w/my 88' 325ic. Lukily for me switching out the Motorinic is one of the 1st things that we have tried. I have a new unit on loan right now that I am trying out.

Question though for you Mike is . . . Did u buy a new unit or a used one.

It turns out that the previous owner of my car put a used unit in a few years back and now here it is falling already. So i am skeptical to go that route again.

What do you think? I think that the new ones might have better chips in it, and would be more reliable over time.
