Well i did not buy a new one, i am sure it will cost a fortune, as for a better chips i would say it will be the same being that i do not think that BMW will do something like that unless they had a recall about a bad motronic unit. Try to get a used one, they will normally give 30 days, and if somethings do not fail withing 30 days chances are it will last a long time.

BUT IF YOU CAN SPARE THE MONEY GO FOR A NEW ONE.
