I am trolling from the e-34 message board, but i'm looking for some advise. I have a chance to buy an 88 325ix, 5 spd, 160k, with a motor that self-destructed due to a triming belt failure. The body is in excellent shape and the interior is in reasonably good shape.

Questions: What is a reasonable price range for such a vehicle?
Is the engine from a regular E-30 the same as an ix with the exception of the oil pan?
Would an engine swap be difficult, extremely difficult, or ridiculous?
Would parting-out be worthwhile?

TIA
Kurt
