Not an easy puzzle! 88 325ic (archive)

I just spent four hours replacing my wheel bearings,but the noise is still present. It is a whooshing noise,sounds like a loud fuel pump, the noise starts at about 20 mph(audible)and does not change freq. turning does not affect the noise. pulled the emergency brake still no change(while moving).A drop in rpm no change,braking no change,only when decelerating the noise wienns(sp)down.No viberation at all.If you have an idea as to what the problem is, please let me know.BTW this my fourth e30.
