: : This is not an "M" model. The seller is full of crap. I believe the engine that is in the car is the 2.7 Super ETA engine, kind of a 325i block with a different top end.
: : The shudder could be different things, probably expensive to fix.
: : Good luck.
: : : Hello,
: : : I've just seen a decent looking 87 325 with 126k. Everything seems to work well, except there's a driveline shudder when decelerating (when I take the foot off the gas pedal). Of course, there's more shudder in the lower gears.
: : : The question is - is this a common occurence? Something that can be fixed relatively cheap? Or am I looking at a major overhaul?
: : : The other question is - the seller tells me it's an "M" model, with a 2.7L engine and some sport bits. Is it any better than a "regular" 325? The trunk just says 325, no other letters.
: : : Thanks in advance to all who'll take the trouble to answer.

: It's not an ///M nor is it a Super ETA. It's a base 325.
The shudder is most likely caused by a bad center support bearing. Your story reminds me of when I was 15 looking for an E30 at a used car dealer, the salesman swore up and down that the 325e cars they had (rebadged as 325i's) were indeed 325i cars! Bottom line, know what you are getting and know what to look for.
