Painting mirrors ? (archive)

Has anyone had any luck with painting their faded mirrors. My 89 325is has dull mirrors, I was able to "bring back" the color on the bumbers and front spoiler, but the mirrors are a disaster, Did you remove them?, prime them?, and what about spray cans of color and clear from BMW? Daniel
