: Hello I have been a car audio installer for the past 7 years and engine whine is a problem that haunts us audio installers as every reason is usually not the same as before-You have already narrowed it down to your amplifier-Not to hurt yourt feelings but lower dollar amplifiers often have this problem-Try to borrow a amp from a friend and hook it up the same way your Boss is hooked up and see if the whine is still there-If not you should consider purchasing a better amp, but if it is the problem could be the wiring-a problem I ran into on my 325is was that if you use premium quality shielded rca cables-they would induce noise into the system as the electronics in the car would magnetize the shield-I replaced these with really cheap rcas with no shield and the problem was almost gone-I could still barely hear it so I decided to make my own-the best way in my opinion-If you can buy some high quality solder on ends and make your own just dont use rca cable-Use 2 pieces of 16 gauge primary copper wire and have your friend hold one end and put the other end in a drill and twist them together-try to twist them so they are tight about 90 degrees to each other-this cancels n oise as one is positive and one is negative they demagnetize themselves-I use this process in all my competition cars I build and never have engine noise-Also make sure to run your own ground on the head unit as a factory ground usually isnt that great-
: Hope This Helps!
