I went thru this a year or so ago on an 89 iX. My suggestion... go with OEM unless the ANSA affords savings >$50.

Ansa makes a decent product for the price. It will not last as long the OEM unit - or so I've repeatedly been told by iX owners, parts suppliers and others.

The labor, effort and down time are the worst components of the whole job. Spend the $50 extra and put off doing this again for as long as possible.

FWIW, I just purchased (3 days ago) a complete, OEM, cat-back exhaust for an 89 iS. The unit is identical to that on the iX. Along with the muffler, I purchased all new hangers, straps, bolts, washers, etc. The total delivery price for all of that from my parts supplier in NJ was $312. That price includes a can of penetrating oil and a tube of high-temp anti-seize. The muffler alone was about $220 and shipping was $30.

I'm tackling the labor myself - with the help of the Bentley manual - to justify the extra expense of replacing all of the hangers and related components.

Good luck,

Jon Lewis
