When there is not enough oil in the car the valves are not lubricated and make a tapping noise when they bang closed. Check the oil now! If this is it, you are doing major damage to your engine.

: Over the last week I have noticed that my 325e engine is becoming more and more rough. It seems that near the head there is a very loud ticking / tapping noise which is worsening. My engine was very smooth when I bought the car 15000 Km ago, but now I am afraid it needs repair. Is this serious? Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me guys!!!
