: i have a 1985 325e that will not idle and it will just die if i dont give it some gas, it idles sometimes when the car has been running for more than 15 minutes. someone has said to me that it is a vacume leak. any other suggestions will be apreciated.

Check to make sure that there are no vacumn leaks, also check your idle control valve for proper adjustment, if someone has messed with it then the valve could be closing prematurely thus restricting the flow of oxygen getting to your engine, in turn it starves and then dies without you trying to force the idle up.If this is the case I suggest that you increase the adjustment on the valve. You should also check your temperature in the car: i.e. is the car acting up at a certain temp. A car with this problem will run good during the initial startup when it is cold, because of the coldstart injector.
